Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology (EGSB) Division Director N. Louise Glass has announced several changes to the organization and leadership of the Division, effective May 1.
As previously announced, Glass intends to step down as Director of EGSB as of May 23, and Susannah Tringe has agreed to serve as Interim Division Director while a worldwide search for Glass’s replacement is conducted. For now, Tringe will assume the role of Division Deputy. Ben Brown and Henrik Scheller, who have served as Division Deputies since October 2018, will step down from that role.
Late last year, Glass initiated a reorganization of her Division to better serve researchers in EGSB. The Division will now have three Departments: Biosystems Data Science, led by Department Head Chris Mungall; Comparative and Functional Genomics, led by Department Head Diane Dickel; and Molecular EcoSystems Biology, led by Department Head Henrik Scheller.
Glass acknowledged previous Department Head Tanja Woyke (Functional Genomics) as well as Ben Brown for their leadership. She expressed gratitude toward Tringe for taking on her new role, and to Mungall, Dickel, and Scheller for their continued service to EGSB.
