Our researchers pursue basic science discovery and technology development to enable the biomanufacturing of fuels, chemicals, and materials. Some areas of expertise include: metabolic pathway engineering, biosensor development, microbial community manipulation, and computer-aided design.

Hillson develops and demonstrates experimental wetware, software, and laboratory automation devices that facilitate, accelerate, and standardize the engineering of microbes.
