Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology Division Director Susannah Tringe announced a change in leadership of the Comparative and Functional Genomics (CFG) Department, effective January 4, 2022.
Diane Dickel is stepping down as the Department Head. She has served in this position since April 2020, in addition to her prior service leading the Functional Genomics Department. Dickel will begin a new position as Head of Functional Genomics at Octant Bio in Emeryville in mid-January.
Adam Deutschbauer, a staff scientist whose research focuses on developing new approaches for rapid functional characterization of diverse microorganisms, has agreed to take on the role of Department Head of CFG. Since the inception of the EGSB Division in 2015, Deutschbauer, has served as Co-deputy Director for Science and as the Department Head of Functional Genomics.
Tringe expressed her gratitude to Dickel for her leadership and efforts on behalf of the Division and welcomed Deutschbauer to his new position on the EGSB Leadership Team.
