The BSE Division is committed to ensuring an open and welcoming workplace for all employees, contractors, affiliates, and visitors. This expectation applies to all roles and levels–from managers to supervisors to individual contributors–in the Division. To foster this environment, the BSE leadership team and organizing committee provides information, resources, and events for building community and career development.

This office drives Lab-wide strategic outcomes by centering our business systems and mindsets around our core values of team science, respect, trust, innovation, and service.

The BLPA exists to provide support for enriching postdocs’ scientific careers, as well as to assist postdocs with any issues that might affect them and provide peer support.

The BSE Division sponsors fireside chats, seminars, and networking events with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, incubators/accelerators, and industry experts working in the biosciences ecosystem. These events offer an opportunity for employees to network and learn more about the practical aspects of commercializing biosciences technologies.

Working with partners both within and outside Berkeley Lab, Workforce Development and Education (WD&E) promotes equal access to scientific and technical careers for students from all backgrounds, supports STEM teachers, and builds scientific literacy through innovative education programs. WD&E also supports educational outreach efforts from Divisions like BSE by providing program development assistance, materials, funding, volunteers, project management, marketing, and administrative support.
