Kanupriya Pande, a bioinformaticist research scientist in the Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging Division, will be honored with the Early Career Scientific Achievement Award for developing a new algorithm that allows fully automated, robust alignment and reconstruction of X-ray tomography data without the need for alignment markers. Her achievement enables analysis of previously unusable data and yields high-resolution 3D reconstructions.
Biosciences Area Safety Coordinator Chris Rosen will receive the Organizational Impact Award as part of the Design Basis Threat (DBT) Implementation Core Team. The team was cited for their three-year project to install over $1.4 million dollars of security systems and develop new Lab-wide policies, procedures, and controls to protect high consequence materials. As a result of their efforts, the Berkeley Lab DBT program received full acceptance by the Department of Energy.
Biosciences Area Principal HR Division Partner Alex Degg and Deputy for Operations Nikki Humphreys will receive the IDEA Mentorship Award as part of the Mentoring@LBNL Team. The team was recognized for building the critical foundations of a complex mentoring ecosystem over a three-year period. The resulting program fulfills different employee mentorship needs while modeling the value of team science and cross-Lab collaboration.
