Photos From Women @ The Lab Awards Ceremony July 11, 2018Six Biosciences Area staffers were among the outstanding group of female scientists, engineers, technicians, and operations professionals recognized July 9 at the third Women @ The Lab awards ceremony. This year’s 16 honorees, pictured above with Lab Director Mike Witherell, were chosen from a competitive field of over 60 nominees. Esther Singer (far right), a project scientist at JGI and co-chair of the Women Scientists & Engineers Council (WSEC) Empower subcommittee, organized the event. Alicia Clum, Genome Assembly and Analysis Group lead at the DOE Joint Genome Institute, was honored in the Technical category with JGI User Programs Deputy *Susannah Tringe presenting the award. Danielle Goudeau, a scientific engineering associate at JGI, was honored in the Technical category with JGI User Programs Deputy Susannah Tringe presenting the award. Anne Berry, a postdoctoral fellow in Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging, was honored in the Early-Career category with MBIB Division Director Paul Adams presenting the award. Romy Chakraborty, a research scientist in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Area who holds a secondary appointment in Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology, was honored in the Mid-Career category with Associate Lab Director for Earth and Environmental Sciences *Susan Hubbard presenting the award. Caroline Ajo-Franklin, a staff scientist at the Molecular Foundry who holds a secondary appointment in MBIB, was honored in the Mid-Career category with Biological Nanostructures Facility Director Ron Zuckermann presenting the award.
