ABPDU’s Gas Capture Capability Enables Production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel Molecule
The Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Development Unit (ABPDU), a research facility funded by Department of Energy’s (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO), collaborated with BETO’s Bioprocessing Separations Consortium, Argonne National Laboratory, and Amyris Inc., a leading synthetic biology company, to develop new experimental setups and technologies to advance volatile product capture.

Mukhopadhyay Named AAAS Fellow
Aindrila Mukhopadhyay, the science deputy for the Biosciences Area’s Biological Systems and Engineering (BSE) Division and vice president for Biofuels and Bioproducts at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), has been recognized for her “exceptional contributions to the field of microbial engineering for the sustainable production of biofuels and bioproducts, particularly in optimizing and using functional genomics approaches.”

Biosciences Area scientist Deepika Awasthi won the 2022 Berkeley Lab Pitch Competition held on October 27. The competition, funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) and co-hosted by the Intellectual Property Office and the Haas School of Business, was designed to provide scientist-entrepreneurs at the Lab with experience in pitching to key stakeholders such as potential investors and partners.
