A team headed by the Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology (EGSB) Division’s Chris Mungall will be part of the National Institute of Health program, Bridge to Artificial Intelligence (Bridge2AI). This $130M four-year program, pending the availability of funds, is meant to build a bridge connecting biomedical and behavioral research to artificial intelligence (AI). Bridge2AI researchers will create guidance and standards for the development of ethically sourced, state-of-the-art, AI-ready data sets. These data sets have the potential to help solve some of the most pressing challenges in human health — such as uncovering how genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors influence a person’s physical condition throughout their life.
Mungall, pictured right, and his colleagues will be collaborators in the Standards Core, led by the University of Colorado. The principal investigator for this aspect of the Bridge Center for integration, dissemination, and evaluation activities is Monica Munoz-Torres, EGSB affiliate faculty and former member of the Mungall group.
