The FY19 Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Program has been announced by Director Witherell and the Call for Proposals (CFP) has been released. This schedule includes Biosciences Area due dates and activities; any changes and updates will be posted there. Briefly, the topics addressed by this LDRD call are:

Machine Learning for Science
Water-Energy Nexus
The Area Initiative LDRDs are encouraged in new “breakthrough” science areas. Within Biosciences, the particular research topics for which proposals are especially encouraged are:
- Biological Dark Matter;
- Modeling the biology: environment interface;
- Integrated analysis from Molecular to Mesoscale; and
- Molecules-to-Minds Program
