Antioch High School juniors practiced their job application skills on February 26 during mock interviews held at LBL’s Biosciences Emery Station Operations Center (ESOC). The students, who are taking part in the Biotech Partners program, are getting ready for their interviews in order to get summer internships. The ESOC operations staff was on hand to support the students.
JBEI initiated a collaboration with Biotech Partners in 2015 having hired three high school interns to work in research projects in its laboratories. This year the collaboration is expanding institutionally by having ABPDU join the internship program, and by including other types of activities such as mock interviews and technical seminars for the students.
Biotech Partners is an independent non-profit organization since 1993 which aims to help youth from populations underrepresented in the sciences navigate the worlds of school, work and life through a biotechnology-focused curriculum, including job training and internships, which provides access to fulfilling well-paid careers in bioscience and increases opportunities for higher education.
Biotech Partners are currently still looking for mentors for the summer internships. For more information contact Irina Silva.
