The FY19 Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Program has been announced by Director Witherell and the Call for Proposals (CFP) has been released. This schedule includes Biosciences Area due dates and activities; any changes and updates will be posted there.
The Biosciences Area partners with Biotech Partners (BP), a non-profit organization with the mission of educating underserved youth in the Bay Area through personal, academic, and professional development experiences that increase participation in higher education and improve access to fulfilling science careers. In 2017 the Biosciences Area provided internships to six high school students. This year, we are again looking for mentors who have a strong commitment to teaching a high school student. Interested mentors must express their interest by April 13, 2018 (DEADLINE EXTENDED). Learn more
As shared by Jay Keasling with Biosciences staff on May 1, the 2017 Berkeley Lab Performance Review process has officially kicked off. Read his announcement here.
Berkeley Lab is rolling out a new Publications Management System to simplify management of publications across the organization, keep publication lists up-to-date, and comply with DOE’s open access policy that states the public will have access to our publications at no charge. This system will make it easier to find publications, count the number of publications for a particular group, and will eventually help us prepare publication lists for reviews and display them on web sites. Rather than typing citations manually, it searches for papers in standard databases and puts them on a list for researchers to claim or not (similar to systems like Google Scholar and Research Gate).
